LDR strengthens international position expanding Latin American presence

Austin, TX (December 15, 2008)
LDR, a total spine solution company, announced significant growth in South America following the opening of the LDR Brazil office earlier this year and the addition of exclusive distributor networks in Argentina, Peru, and Venezuela. New distributors in Chile and Colombia are anticipated in Q1 2009. LDR also made major product introductions, launching the Mobi-C® Cervical Artificial Disc into Mexico in Q4 2008 and is preparing for the Q1 2009 launch of the ROI, MC+® and Easyspine® fusion product lines into Argentina. The growth in Latin America reinforces LDR’s long standing commitment to serve as a global spine company.

Christophe Lavigne, CEO of LDR observes, “After visiting Brazil several times and through discussions with key spine opinion leaders, it became obvious LDR needed to invest in this market through a direct entity. I have been impressed by the quality and expertise of the Brazilian spine surgeon community looking for real innovation for the benefit of their patients. The Mobi-C® has been incredibly successful following its introduction a few months ago and our fusion product line is now used on a daily basis across Latin America. LDR is proud to grow these markets and is well positioned to take care of the regions’ doctors and patients.”

Dr. Nelson Arias is neurosurgeon at the Hospital Cruz Vermelha in Curitiba, state of Paraná, Brazil. He has worked in the spine field for over 15 years. Dr. Arias comments, “I started using the Mobi-C®, appreciating the ease of insertion and natural motion achieved. When introduced to LDR’s fusion products, they proved to be equally innovative and easy to use.”

Dr. Arias adds, “LDR emphasized surgeon training from the very beginning, flying in international experts to share surgical pearls learned across continents.”

LDR now has major offices in Europe, North America, South America, and Asia and is selling its products around the world. The company will continue to establish corporate offices in geographic areas that it deems strategically important in supporting continued global growth.

LDR works closely with surgeons to develop implantable spine systems and instrumentation that restore optimum stability and mobility to patients and to make spine surgery more reproducible and easier to perform. More information is located at www.ldrholding.com.
