LDR’s VerteBRIDGE™ plating technology reaches new milestone
Over 3,000 devices implanted worldwide with LDR’s innovative VerteBRIDGE™ plating technology
Austin, Texas (November 3, 2009)
LDR, a total spine solution company, announced today that
since product launch 18 months ago there have been more than
3,000 devices with VerteBRIDGE™ plating technology implanted
worldwide. Over 2,500 of these devices have been implanted
in the U.S. The ROI-A™ ALIF cage was introduced to the
market in June of 2008*, with the ROI-C™ cervical cage
following in March 2009*. The use of both products has been
steadily growing, and continues to show great potential.
The ROI-A and ROI-C cages both feature the zero-profile,
stand-alone VerteBRIDGE plating technology. With its
self-guided, curved plating delivered in the plane of the
disc through a direct anterior approach, the technology
requires less exposure than stand-alone systems secured with
screws that must be inserted at oblique angles. Surgeons
value the zero-profile design of the ROI-A because it does
not require protruding hardware on the anterior lumbar
spine. In the cervical spine, the ROI-C cage provides a
stand-alone fusion solution that reduces the need for
anterior plates and hardware that may contribute to
dysphagia, or difficulty swallowing.
Both cages are manufactured from PEEK-Optima® for
biocompatibility and radiolucency and feature Tantalum
markers for verification of implant positioning. The
implants are available in a variety of footprints and
heights to match patient anatomy. The ROI-A system includes
cages with multiple lordotic angle options, while the ROI-C
implant has a domed superior surface to respect the cervical
endplate anatomy. These features, in addition to the
innovative plating, provide initial and long-term stability.
System instrumentation is thoughtfully designed, simple and
reliable. Both ROI-A and ROI-C sets include an inserter that
protects anatomical structures when placing the cage and
applying the VerteBRIDGE plating.
Christophe Lavigne, CEO of LDR, comments, “Since introducing
these products we have experienced rapid adoption of the
VerteBRIDGE technology and excellent clinical results. As
surgeon interest for our innovative products grows, we are
aggressively expanding our U.S. sales distribution network.
This has proven to be a win-win solution for us and our
distributors. As we continue to strengthen our ability to
bring innovative technology to the market, now and in the
future, our distributors are better able to secure their
existing customers, open doors to new ones, and shut out
their competition. This is a very exciting time for LDR and
we are proud of our accomplishments.”
LDR works closely with surgeons to develop implantable spine
systems and instrumentation that restore optimum stability
and mobility to patients and to make spine surgery more
reproducible and easier to perform. More information is
